For this project, our client was a villa owner in Canada. Their vision was clear: a modern and stylish glass elevator that could be placed right in the center of their staircase.
The villa itself is spacious and elegant, and the client wanted the elevator to blend seamlessly with the interior while also saving space. They wanted an elevator that felt like a natural extension of their home rather than an addition.
Client Brief
Before, the family always relied on the staircase, but for their older relatives the stairs were not easy to use. The clients wanted to add a glass elevator to make daily movement more convenient, without changing the house too much. At the same time, the elevator needed to blend perfectly with the elegant style of the villa.
Our Solution – a Glass Elevator Surrounded By The Staircase
In the planning stage, we carefully studied the staircase layout and natural light inside the villa. Finally, we provided a fully transparent glass elevator and shaft, installed in the very center of the staircase. This reduced changes to the original structure of the villa and did not block the light, so the interior would not feel dark or crowded because of the new elevator. On the contrary, the modern look of the glass elevator became a highlight of the whole building.
The glass elevator uses traction technology, making the ride smoother and more energy-saving, and it can carry two to three passengers. The shaft is made of a prefabricated aluminum alloy structure, which allows fast and easy assembly. The glass panels are light gray laminated tempered glass, which makes them both strong and beautiful. The entire installation was finished within three weeks, with very little impact on the family’s daily life.
