E47-201 is one of the most common elevator faults in Monarch elevator systems. It is related to the UCMP (Unexpected Car Movement Protection) board communication. Here is the solution.
Why Does the E47-201 Error Happen?
The E47-201 error means: communication problem with the SCB-A4/D4 board.
This can happen for three main reasons:
-
No UCMP board installed Some cabinets do not have a UCMP board, but the system still tries to talk to it. This creates the error.
-
Cable or wiring problem Loose, broken, or poorly connected wires can stop the signal between the UCMP board and the main board.
-
Board hardware failure If the UCMP board is damaged or has unstable power, the main board cannot receive the signal it needs.
👉 In short: the main board is “waiting” for UCMP, but nothing is received.
How to Fix the Monarch E47-201 Error

Case 1: No UCMP board installed (most common)
-
Go to the F6 menu → Parameter 52.
-
Change the settings:
-
bit1 = 0 → turn off UCMP communication
-
bit6 = 0 → turn off top leveling signal input
-
-
Keep only XC and X3 leveling signals.
-
Save the settings, then reset or power cycle the system.
-
The E47-201 error should now be cleared.
Case 2: UCMP board is installed
-
Check the communication cable between the UCMP board and the main board.
-
Make sure the power supply to the board is stable.
-
Look at the indicator lights (see next section).
-
If the problem continues, replace the board or contact the manufacturer.
Monarch Indicator Lights and Ports Detailed Description
In order to more intuitively understand the signals and indication status of the Monarch motherboard, we have placed several photos of the actual circuit board and marked the function of each port and indicator light.

Final Thoughts
The Monarch E47-201 error may sound complex, but the cause is often simple: a missing UCMP board, bad wiring, or a failed board.
-
If your cabinet has no UCMP board, just turn off the UCMP settings.
-
If it does have a UCMP board, check cables, power, and lights before replacing it.
By learning how to use the parameters and read the indicator lights, technicians can quickly clear the Monarch E47-201 error and ensure safe elevator operation.
